3rd Grade Program

Third graders attend chapel every day.  Third graders are chapel leaders twice per 6 weeks.  Third grade is a year of developing personal responsibility.  Students use a planner to plan their homework assignments and daily expectations.  They organize their work and announcements in their binder.  They keep track of their personal accelerated reader goals and points.

They learn how to use the writing process to communicate effectively and learn new reading strategies with Wonders textbook and novels.  Students participate in an end of the year play.

Students are challenged with higher level thinking skills in math using McGraw-Hill - My Math textbook.  Their focus of study is addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and geometry.

Third graders study life science, earth science, and physical science.  They also learn about measurement, the human body, and the physics of sound using hands-on investigations. The focus in Social Studies is on communities, our environment, U. S. Government, and citizenship.  Lessons are enhanced through technology.

Special Area classes include Music, Physical Education, Computer Science, Library, Spanish, Nature Trail, Makerspace and Special Purpose Fridays.
